Taylor wins Bandit Bash Championship

Taylor Baseball started the tournament season with a championship in tri-cities at the Bandit Bash over the weekend. Their record on the trip was 6-1 capped off with the Championship on Sunday afternoon. In the Semi-Final, Chris Seybold was the winning pitcher with a complete game effort over the host Kennewick Bandits. Seybold didn't allow a hit until the 4th, He finished allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits, struck out 6 and walked 2. Taylor took the early lead in the 1st with a run on an infield hit by Chris Sturdivant who was then driven in by Stephen Hagen. Taylor scored 3 more in the 3rd on another RBI single by Hagen and a 2 RBI single by Ryan Peterson. Taylor added runs late on some Bandit errors and held on with an 8-6 win.
In the Championship, Taylor took on the Spokane Northstars. Josh Rosser was the starter and dealt a complete game shutout in the 5-0 win. Rosser gave up 3 hits, struck out 4 and walked 0. Josh also added a solo homerun on the game. Again, Taylor scored 1 in the first on the legs of Sturdivant who had an infield single, stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a fielders choice. Hagen again drove him in with an RBI single. Taylor added 2 more runs in the 3rd on a single by Hagen. Garrett Patterson drove in the 5th run of the game with a single in the 5th inning. Sturdivant scored 5 runs on the day and Brendan Gardner-Young had 3 hits on the day and was also a catalyst on offense. |
