Taylor wins Bandit Bash Championship

Taylor Baseball started the tournament season with a championship in tri-cities at the Bandit Bash over the weekend. Their record on the trip was 6-1 capped off with the Championship on Sunday afternoon. In the Semi-Final, Chris Seybold was the winning pitcher with a complete game effort over the host Kennewick Bandits. Seybold didn't allow a hit until the 4th, He finished allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits, struck out 6 and walked 2. Taylor took the early lead in the 1st with a run on an infield hit by Chris Sturdivant who was then driven in by Stephen Hagen. Taylor scored 3 more in the 3rd on another RBI single by Hagen and a 2 RBI single by Ryan Peterson. Taylor added runs late on some Bandit errors and held on with an 8-6 win.

In the Championship, Taylor took on the Spokane Northstars. Josh Rosser was the starter and dealt a complete game shutout in the 5-0 win. Rosser gave up 3 hits, struck out 4 and walked 0. Josh also added a solo homerun on the game. Again, Taylor scored 1 in the first on the legs of Sturdivant who had an infield single, stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a fielders choice. Hagen again drove him in with an RBI single. Taylor added 2 more runs in the 3rd on a single by Hagen. Garrett Patterson drove in the 5th run of the game with a single in the 5th inning. Sturdivant scored 5 runs on the day and Brendan Gardner-Young had 3 hits on the day and was also a catalyst on offense.

Hagen was named the Offensive MVP of the tournament, while Patterson was named the Defensive MVP of the tournament. Next, Taylor takes on the Washington Brewers on Tuesday at BCC, gametime is 6pm.
