In this years Major League Baseball first years players draft Taylor Baseball has had 4 current and 2 former players taken. This marks the most players ever taken from Taylor Baseball in one draft. Stephen Souza (Cascade High School) was taken in the 3rd round by the Washington Nationals, the same team that infield coach Brad Ditter was drafted by in the 2003 draft. Former Taylor player Tyler Mach was taken in the 4th round by the Philadelphia Phillies. Tyler played his college baseball at the UW, then Edmonds CC and he is currently playing for Oklahoma State in the Super Regional. Mach is the all time Taylor leader in career homeruns (38) and RBI (217) in his three years. Next, another current player, Dustin Biell (Inglemoor High School) was taken in the 5th round by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Another former player, Mark Thompson was taken in the 6th round by the Cleveland Indians. Mark also started his career at Edmonds CC and then went on to Lewis and Clark State. Keaton Hayenga (Eastlake High School) was drafted in the 31st round by the Kansas City Royals and Stephen Hagen (Peninsula High School) was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the 50th round.
