Taylor Baseball 2011 Position
Player Preview
Outfield
 Austin Pernell (2012)
from Kentlake High School is a true center fielder with game
changing speed and instincts. Austin is a prototype leadoff
hitter that can use his speed and ability to hit when it matters
most. Austin also stars for Kentlake in football as a 1st
team all SPSL defensive back and wide receiver while also being
named to the Tacoma News tribune all-area team as a defensive
back. Pernell verbally committed to WSU.
Theo
Alexander (2012) from
Lake Washington High School returns to Taylor after a very
successful 2010 summer. Theo was Taylor’s youngest player in the
clubs history at 15 years old but managed to carry Taylor in
some of the season’s biggest games and tournaments. Theo’s speed
and power as a left handed hitter makes him one of the
Northwest’s most sought after prospects in the 2012 class.
 Derek
Callahan (2011) from
Edmonds-Woodway High School also returns after finishing the
2010 summer on the All Seattle Premier League Team as a Right
Fielder. Derek’s power, speed and instincts for the game make
him a legitimate two way MLB prospect in the 2010 class. Derek
signed with Gonzaga.
Victor
Mayorquin (2012) from Lake Washington HS brings Taylor
one of the fastest players in the 2012 class. Mayorquin's speed
adds another valuable dimension to the line up. He is an
exceptional defender in the outfield. With some polish
offensively, Victor could be a very intriguing prospect in the
2012 class.
 Yale Rosen
(2011) from Oak Harbor
High School brings Taylor a power hitting left handed hitter
with tremendous upside. Yale is a good defender with plus arm
strength from right field. Yale is one of the hidden gems in the
entire northwest and could end up being a force in the middle of
Taylor’s line up for the 2011 summer. Yale has signed to
play at Edmonds CC.
Middle Infield
 Jourdan
Weiks (2011) from Capital
High School brings the toughness and mentality all coaches look
for. Weiks is as steady of a player as there is and will be a
mainstay in the top of the Taylor order this summer. Weiks has
great range and good arm strength. Weiks also might be Taylor’s
fastest player along with Austin Pernell. Jourdan was also a
stand out wide receiver for Capital High School. Jourdan will
play at the University of San Francisco next year.
 Shea
Donlin (2012) from
Woodinville High School joins the club as one of the top middle
infielders in the 2012 class. Shea is a very good defender and
plays the game with intelligence. Shea is a switch hitter and
already displays a very mature approach at the plate.
Shea
has a tremendous work ethic and will be a great asset to have up
the middle for the club all summer. Shea has verbally committed
to WSU.
 Michael Lucarelli (2011)
from Enumclaw High School comes to Taylor as one of the most
athletic middle infielders in the 2011 class. Michael has silky
smooth actions and shows very good arm strength from short stop.
He is an outstanding hitter and has shown the ability to hit the
ball to all fields against the best pitching around. Michael
enters the 2011 high school season for Enumclaw as the reigning
SPSL 3A MVP. Lucarelli signed with Edmonds CC.
Corner Infield
 Avery Kain
(2011) from Kentwood High
School returns after leading the 2010 Taylor club in average.
Avery has a knack for the big hit and shows tremendous power
from his 6’4” 200lbs frame. Avery will play some 1B and DH for
the 2011 club while also returning as one of Taylor’s best
pitchers. Avery signed with Washington State University.
 Bryan
Burgher (2011) from
Emerald Ridge High School will supply the power in the middle of
the line-up. Bryan has a short compact swing that produces
tremendous power and also has the ability to hit for average.
Bryan also is expected to come in as one of the top arms on the
staff. Bryan signed with the University of Washington.
 Marcus
Madden (2011) from
Enumclaw High School returns after spending last summer holding
down third base. Marcus brings a toughness and scrappy mentality
which his teammates feed off of. Marcus has a good approach at
the plate and has a knack for the big hit. He will be relied
upon once again this summer to play solid defense at third base
and bring his toughness day in and day out.
Marcus
signed with Edmonds CC.
Dylan
Wright (2013) from
Kentlake High School is a great athlete and brings the club much
needed versatility. Dylan can play third base and middle infield
and has great actions. Dylan has a passion for the game that is
contagious to his teammates. Dylan has shown the ability to
handle adversity well which will allow him to be successful at
this level and beyond. He also is one of the best pitchers in
the 2013 class. Dylan is the younger brother of 2010 Taylor
alumni Zack Wright who now pitches at the University of
Washington.
Catchers
 Brady Kerr
(2011) from Nathan Hale
High School returns to Taylor after spending most of last summer
catching and hitting in the DH spot. Brady has plus arm strength
and understands how to handle the pitching staff. Brady has a
pure left handed swing and finished last summer as one of the
clubs hottest hitters. Brady has committed to play at Bellevue
College.
Jake
Gober (2011) from
Eastside Catholic High School could be the clubs most valuable
addition for 2011. Gober is an athletic quick catcher and
receives as well as any catcher in the state. Gober is also a
very good hitter as shown by being selected to last year’s All
Seattle Premier League Team. Gober holds a 4.0gpa in the
classroom and his intelligence shows up on the field.
