Taylor wins over Stars in semi, Drops final to Colton

Taylor Baseball came up one game short in their bid to win the USABF World Series on Saturday at Point Loma. In the semi-final, Taylor defeated the Seattle Stars for the fourth time this summer. The pitching matchup was Jason Erickson for Taylor vs. Greg Peavey for the Stars. Both pitchers pitched outstanding games with the final score at 4-2. Erickson finished the game allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, striking out 5 and walking 1. Taylor opened the scoring with a sac fly by Alex Burg in the 3rd. The Stars answered with 2 runs in the top of the 4th and held the lead for 2 pitches with Bret Bochsler hitting a solo homerun. Taylor added 2 more runs in the 4th aided by 2 errors and a wild pitch.

In the championship game, Brandon Eagon was the starter and battled through 4 innings and was relieved by Cameron Litzenburger. Stephen Wells hit a solo homerun in the 2nd and made an amazing catch in the top of the 3rd. Taylor took a 5-4 lead into the 5th and then Colton exploded for 8 runs to take a commanding lead.

Taylor finished the summer with their all-time best winning percentage posting a record of 59-7.
