2010 season comes to a close
Taylor Baseball finished the summer strong as the ballclub won the inaugural Seattle Premier League Championship Series 2 games to 1 over the Seattle Stars in late July. The Championship was highlighted by an amazing pitching effort by Max Dickinson wo was named MVP. Derek Callahan and Theo Alexander each hit 2 homeruns in the series to lead the offense.
The team traveled to San Diego in August to compete in the USABF World Series and continued to play outstanding baseball ending the trip with a 9-1 record and a 2nd place finish. Alex Sloan was amazing as he hit 7 homeruns on the tournament. Zach Wright, Zach Cloe and John McLeod led the pitching staff with 2 wins apiece including a semi final no hitter versus the San Diego city champs for McLeod. The ballclub dropped the final 3-0 to the Oklahoma Travelers.
On the summer the offense was led by Sloan and Ryan Wiggins who combined for 35 homeruns. Avery Kain led the offense in batting average and Taylor Smart set an offensive record as he led off 3 games with homeruns.
August and September will be spent putting next summers team together and planning for the bi weekly winter workouts. Thankyou to all the players and parents whose efforts made the summer a success and good luck to all those players who have moved on to college and professional baseball. |
