Taylor opens tourney play with 12-0 win over Salem

Taylor opened play at the Curt Daniels Invitational with a win versus the Salem Dodgers at Propstra Stadium. Kyle Swannack was the winning pitcher with a 6 inning complete game effort. He threw the shutout on 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 2. The offense got on the board early with 3 runs in the 1st inning when Mike Bush scored after a double by Steve Kirbach and a single by Alex Sloan. Ryan Wiggins added a sac fly to score Sloan. Taylor added a single run in the 2nd on a single by Alex Potts scoring Eric Peterson. Brooks Roy led off the 3rd with a homerun to left field to make the score 5-0. Potts added another run in the 5th with an RBI double. Taylor broke the game open with 6 runs in the 6th highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Kennedy Kinkade.

Mike Bush finished the game 3-6 with a triple and RBI, Alex Potts went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Alex Sloan went 3-5 with 2 RBI, Brooks Roy was 2-3 with a homerun and 2 RBI, Kennedy Kinkade went 2-4 with a double, homerun and 4 RBI and Isaac Kim went 2-4 with a double and RBI.

Next Taylor plays a doubleheader at the University of Portland versus the Buzz followed by the Vancouver Cardinals. Game 1 is set to start at 2:45
